Former Columbus Councilman, Barbara Jeans Owner Passes Away

COLUMBUS – Co-Owner of Barbara Jeans and former Columbus City Councilman Dennis Duffy, recently passed away at the age of 76.

Current 3rd Ward Columbus City Councilman Richard Jablonski shared his condolences at Monday nights meeting, for Duffy, who also served in the 3rd Ward.

Duffy was born in Crookston, Minnesota in 1942, and eventually enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving until 1963, says his obituary. Duffy received his accounting degree from Bemidji State University, and worked in 15 states for the Federal Power commission before settling in Columbus, says the obituary.

Duffy married his wife Barbara Duffy in 1978 and was co-owner of Barbara Jeans Fashions in downtown Columbus.

Duffy passed away peacefully on June 8th, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
