Former BSDC Employee Enters Plea in Abuse Investigation

BEATRICE – A 37-year-old Diller man has pleaded no contest to an amended charge regarding the abuse of a resident at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, August 9th, of 2015.

Shawn Ebeling Thursday entered the plea to a misdemeanor charge of attempted abuse of a vulnerable adult….as part of a plea agreement.

District Judge Daniel Bryan Jr. scheduled sentencing for January 5th.  Ebeling could receive up to one-year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Gage County Attorney Roger Harris says a Nebraska State Patrol investigation revealed that Ebeling, an employee of BSDC, struck a resident twice in the side of the head, and pushed him.  The resident fell against a wall.
