Follow-up Investigation Shows Stolen Missouri Truck Recovered

BEATRICE – There’s an update on that construction truck reported to be stolen in Missouri and purchased online by a Holmesville resident.

Gage County Sheriff Millard Gustafson says follow-up investigation between his office and the Henry County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office indicates that the former owner of the truck from Columbia, Missouri had recovered the stolen vehicle months ago, but did not notify Missouri authorities that the truck had been recovered.

That omission meant that the truck had not been removed from a national computer database indicating it was stolen.  A title inspection and vehicle I.D. number had initially indicated the truck had been stolen from a construction site near Clinton, Missouri.

A Gage County investigator contacted the new owner from Holmesville, who is now in possession of the truck, purchased for $8,300 using an online auction service.
