The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for our listening area from 7PM Thursday through late Friday night. The watch includes the following areas, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Pawnee, Richardson, and Saline.
Multiple rounds of heavy-rainfall-producing thunderstorms will impact the watch area beginning tonight and continuing into Friday night. Since the soil is already saturated from thunderstorms earlier this week, much of this new rainfall will runoff, increasing the flash flood threat.
Excessive rainfall may result in flooding of low-lying or poor drainage areas…creeks and streams. In addition to the flash flood hazard, rising river levels are also possible.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. We will keep you updated on any changes so you can be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
When severe weather strikes, we strike first.
