Fast Moving Snowstorm Causes Blizzard Conditions, Big Snowfall Amounts
Early Sunday morning blizzard conditions, in Beatrice

BEATRICE – A Thanksgiving weekend snowstorm that brought poor visibility across parts of four states caused headaches for travelers and snow crews over the weekend.  In Beatrice, about seven inches of snow fell starting early Sunday morning.

Beatrice Street Superintendent Jason Moore says the storm moved extremely fast, with the last of it exiting southeast Nebraska late Sunday afternoon.

:15                  “was melting”

Snow crews spent most of the day clearing major routes, and continued work into the overnight hours.   Moore said crews were planning to begin plowing residential streets Sunday night, after the major snow routes and highways were cleared.

Crews applied some material to the roads for the early morning travel today.   Moore says there were too many people trying to travel Sunday, who shouldn’t have been on the road.

Moore says some streets had drifts of up to a foot deep in areas.  Plows ridged snow in the center of the street in the downtown area, to be removed later.
