Farmers Line Up For Hot Meal During Harvest Season

JANSEN – Jansen smelled of hot dogs and Fall Harvest.

Trucks were lining up at the Farmers Cooperative in Jansen to get their bag of food. For 17 years, KWBE and Ol Red 99-5 have served meals to farmers during the busiest time of Harvest season.

Nichole Scholl of Promotions at KWBE and Ol Red 99-5 says, “You know this year, the difference was the weather where we had so much rain, for such a long time, that now this week – we have had such good weather that everyone is harvesting.”

Sponsors help in purchasing the food for KWBE and Ol Red 99-5’s Harvest Bonanza. At the Jansen location, a few members of the Fairbury FFA volunteered their time to help the cause.

“The farmers are really appreciative that, number one, they get a hot meal. It’s something different than every other day that they’ve been in the truck or in the combine.”
