FALLS CITY – Folks that want to view the upcoming solar eclipse will have the option of doing it while dining in the middle of downtown Falls City.
The Falls City Area Chamber & Main Street will be hosting ‘Dine in the Dark’ on the day of the eclipse, August 21st.
The chamber has brought in two restaurants, Cakes & ‘Que and A&G Restaurant to cater the meal.
“They’ll be a couple of options, we’re pre-selling tickets because we don’t know how many people to expect from this,” says chamber director Amber Holle.
Falls City will have a prime viewing area for the rare solar eclipse, which is when the moon passes directly in front of the sun. There is a high likelihood that many folks from outside of town will come for the day.
Thankfully, Holle says they’ll be plenty of room.
“We have approval to shut down the 16th and 17th blocks of Stone St. So we’ll be able to dine on the bricks and we’ll have some picnic tables brought in and hopefully some canopies for shade because it will be a hot time of year,” says Holle.
Holle says that for $30, you will receive a t-shirt, solar glasses to view the eclipse and a meal ticket.
She also says it is likely the chamber will hold other events during the weekend of the eclipse.
