BEATRICE -A counterfeit bill has turned up in Wymore. Gage County Sheriff’s investigators say the fake ten-dollar bill was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy by the manager of a Casey’s General Store, in the southern Gage County town.
The bill had been received by the store, sometime between six p.m. and closing, last Sunday.
Authorities are working with store management and reviewing surveillance video, and interviewing an employee who was working that night.
Sheriff’s officials say at this time, it appears to be an isolated incident, but they are urging businesses and residents to double check the validity of currency they receive, along with verifying checks or credit cards they may accept.
Gage County law officers are encouraging anyone with information that may assist the investigation, to call 402-223-5221.
