Fairbury Public Schools is inviting the public to attend a Silent and Live Auction during the Lady’s and Boys’ varsity basketball games this Saturday evening at Fairbury High School.
A group of volunteers have been collecting items to raise money for a new LED Moving Message Board for the schools. A Whole Hog, Seed Corn, Furniture, and Tickets to sporting events like Husker Football, Omaha Storm Chasers, and the Lincoln Stars are just some of the items that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Fundraising will be a combination of both silent auction items in the commons, and live auction items that will be auctioned off during the half times, and in between the varsity games as well.
Angie Judd, one of the organizers of the event says that bid numbers will be used both on the live and silent portions of the auction. The numbers can be picked up at the ticket table as early as the JV games. The silent auction items will be up for bid at 4:30 and will end at half time of the boys game. This will allow you to know if you’ve won before you leave the games that evening.
Jim Graham, a Fairbury Alum, and his company Nebraska Signs are helping Fairbury Public Schools with the design and process. Judd says the picture that you see here or on the fliers is not the final design, but just an example of the type of sign they are hoping to get. The actual design should be finalized sometime in the next two weeks.
Once funds are raised the sign will be located just off Highway 15 at 11th and K near the armory.
