Fairbury Police Chief Resigns

FAIRBURY – The City of Fairbury officially announced the voluntary resignation of Police Chief, Chad Sprunk on Thursday morning. Sprunk has been with the Fairbury Police Department for 10 years, 8 of those as Chief of Police.

Chief Sprunk’s official last day with the City will be September 15th.

City Administrator Collin Bielser said “On behalf of the City, I want to thank Chief Sprunk for his dedication and service to the City and its residents.  We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

The City is currently in the process naming an interim police chief.

The resignation comes as discussions are going on for the possible merger of the Fairbury Police Department with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s office.
