FAIRBURY – Fairbury Police have made an arrest in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins.
18-year-old Christian Reinke of Fairbury was arrested Wednesday for felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
Police say in a release that officers went to a residence in the 1400 block of Fifth Street to investigate a stolen firearm that was taken from a vehicle. Officers recovered the .22 caliber pistol and were able to determine Reinke was the person who brought the gun to the residence. Police also recovered other stolen items that were taken during a string of vehicle break-ins in Fairbury.
Reinke was jailed Tuesday for a separate offense and will be facing additional charges. The investigation is ongoing and police say more arrests are expected.
