FAIRBURY, NE – The resignation of three Fairbury teachers, including two high school coaches, was unanimously approved by the Fairbury school board on Monday night during the board’s monthly meeting at the ’47 building.
Jeffs head football coach and math teacher Kameron Lenhart, head volleyball coach and math teacher Hannah Rundle, along with English teacher Abigail Jones, will all resign effective at the end of the 2018-19 school year.
Lenhart just wrapped up his third season as the Jeffs’ football coach. After delivering two winning seasons and two district titles in his first two years, Fairbury went 3-6 in 2018 after graduating 12 seniors from the 2017 team that finished 9-1.
Lenhart was just 24 when he became Fairbury’s head football coach in 2016, after previously serving as defensive coordinator under Derek Garfield. Lenhart is also an assistant on the wrestling team, headed up by Garfield.
Rundle meanwhile just helped Fairbury to its best volleyball season in 11 years. She took over the team in 2015. After going 1-29 in her first season, Fairbury steadily improved to 8-23 in 2016, 14-19 in 2017 and 19-13 in 2018.
That was the most wins for Fairbury in volleyball since 2007 when the Jeffs finished 21-14.
Jones, who graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2015, started teaching English in Fairbury that same year.
