Fairbury Elks Lodge Hosts Moving Flag Day Ritual

FAIRBURY – The public was invited to attend a moving presentation of the history of the American Flag on Wednesday.

Residents gathered at the Fairbury Elks Lodge to watch the ceremony and help in singing the National Anthem and “God Bless America.” The purpose of the Flag Day Ritual is to show appreciation and patriotism to a symbol that represents hope and strength.

Cub Scout Pack #302 and Girl Scout Troops #20336 and #20558 participated in bringing each flag out while the history and evolution of the American Flag was read.

The colors were presented, posted and retired by the VFW Post and Fairbury American Legion.
