Fairbury Council Approves City Street Improvements

FAIRBURY – The Fairbury City Council approved a pair of street paving projects Tuesday night.

The council voted in favor of repaving B Street from 11th to 14th Streets and 9th Street from F to H. The work will be done by Pavers Inc., a contractor based in Waverly. The two projects together will cost a total of just under $373,000.

City Administrator Collin Bielser also reminded the council that there will be a public forum held next week to discuss the results of an H Street corridor study. Olsson Associates will present the findings of their study of H Street and possible improvements. The forum will be held in the conference room at Jefferson Community Health and Life on Wednesday, April 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting the council voted to place “dip” signs at the intersection of 8th and A Street for east and west bound traffic, approved a proclamation celebrating Arbor Day and planting trees at Crystal Springs on April 28 and gave the Fairbury High School Student Council permission to host an end of the year bonfire in the City Park on May 19th.
