FAIRBURY – Fairbury’s City-wide clean-up is underway this week, and continues through Friday.
For the next four days, Fairbury residents have the chance to dispose of large items free of charge – all in an effort to make Fairbury cleaner.
Those who wish to dispose of large items need to have them curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of pick-up. Eligible materials include furniture, rugs, appliances, tires, car parts and building materials.
Things like shingles, logs, brush, concrete, leaves, grass, garbage and all liquids are not eligible. Fairbury street superintendent Laura Bedlan says the annual city clean-up is usually well received.
“It’s a good way to get waste that residents maybe don’t know how to get out to the transfer station,” Bedlan said. “It’s a good opportunity for us to pick up items from them that they couldn’t easily get out.”
Both sides of A Street from 3rd to 16th streets were cleaned Monday. B, C, D and E Streets from 6th to 17th will be cleaned Tuesday.
“F” Street from 2nd to 17th Streets, “G” Street from 2nd to 20th and “H” Street from 2nd to 27th will be cleaned Wednesday. “I,” “J” and “K” from 2nd to 27th Street will be Thursday, while McDowell, Hubble, “L,” “M” and “N” Street from P.W.F. Road to 16th and South “I,” “J” and “K” Streets will be due up Friday.
