BEATRICE – The Beatrice Public Library has added an event to the month-long list of activities during National Library Week and National Library Appreciation Month.
Library Director Laureen Riedesul says the Sonderegger Nursery history will be the subject of a program next Tuesday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Beatrice Public Library.
The April programs mark 125 years of service at the local library. The library building at 100 N. 16th Street is on the site of the Carl and Babetta Sonderegger mansion. Riedesul says several older trees on the lot were part of the original Sonderegger landscaping plan.
Tuesday’s program will include information originally presented by Riedesel during the application process to have the current library location designated as part of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. The information assisted in the Library’s further designation as a Landmark Site within the arboretum system.
