Omaha, NE.—There was a time when Members of Congress who made little difference were dubbed “backbenchers” by their critics.
In the third and final debate of the Omaha House race Democrat Kara Eastman was arguably harsher when she said she’s heard, “Several members of Congress on the Democratic side who say they couldn’t pick him out of a line-up.”
Her comment followed Bacon’s contention that he’s been rated in the top 29 percent when it comes to bipartisanship, “I’ve helped Democrats get bills and amendments passed.”
That’s just one highlight of a contentious debate that found the two sparring over gun control, social security and taxes—just to mention a few.
