PONCA – Easter weekend at Ponca State Park meant not just hunting for eggs…but learning about them as well.
The park hosted youngsters for a full day of activities on Saturday. In addition to the usual scramble for hidden egg, assistant superintendent Maria Korver said the day was an opportunity to teach a new generation about the many egg-laying creatures that can be found in Nebraska.
“People are learning about the resources and the animals that live here and call Nebraska their home,” Korver said. “That’s why we do our outdoor education.”
The park also hosted a walk along one of the many trails on site, and is holding their first glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt after sundown.
