Early Saturday Fire Destroys Vacant Wymore Home

WYMORE – Firefighters from three departments were sent to an early morning blaze that destroyed a vacant house, in Wymore.

Firefighters were sent to the home near 11th and “J” Streets at about three a.m., Saturday.  Wymore Assistant Fire Chief Mark Meints says a passerby reported the fire.

Wymore Fire summoned Blue Springs and Beatrice Fire Departments for assistance in fighting the blaze.   About twenty to twenty-five firefighters and Wymore Police were on the scene early Saturday, along with a Wymore EMS unit.

Even though no one was residing in the home, Meints says there was some loss of contents inside.

The main part of the fire damage was to the rear of the house, and dense smoke was coming from the structure, early Saturday.

There were no injuries in the fire, and no damage to surrounding properties.  The house is along the west side of 11th, in the north part of Wymore.  The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
