BEATRICE – A Blue Springs man whose trial on a drug distribution charge was to get underway today, has had the charge against him dismissed.
Deputy County Attorney Justin Huber filed a motion to endorse an additional witness, two days prior to the trial was scheduled to get underway in Gage County District Court. Gage County Attorney Roger Harris says the witness is with the Nebraska Crime Lab.
60-year-old Steven Caporale was charged with one count of possession, with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Harris says his office can re-file, in the case.

Harris says his office has consulted with the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office on where to proceed. The county attorney said drug investigations are considered a priority and he expects a decision in the near term on whether to re-file a complaint against Caporale.

The original charge in the case stated the violation occurred May 19th of 2016, when undercover officers conducted a controlled purchase of three grams of methamphetamine, at a Wymore convenience store parking lot.
