BEATRICE – Gage County law officers arrested one of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle injury accident north of Beatrice, after leaving the scene of the wreck.
The collision happened Tuesday, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Elm Road, about three miles north of the city.
An investigating Gage County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle and the driver who had left the scene, about one-point-five miles east of the highway on East Elm Road. The vehicle driven by 54-year-old Carol Goracke, had significant damage to the passenger side, and both tires flat on that side of the vehicle.
Goracke, who was standing outside her vehicle, told the deputy she attempted to cross the highway westbound, but collided with another car. Authorities say that vehicle was a white 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Tristin Rzekonski. She and a passenger suffered minor injuries.
Goracke was arrested for leaving the scene of an injury accident, failure to yield, driving under the influence of alcohol and having fictitious plates. Authorities say records indicated the plate on her maroon-colored Buick, was actually off a black 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier.
