BEATRICE – A heavily traveled downtown Beatrice street is getting a new surface, this week.
Construction crews are installing a new asphalt surface on Ella Street between Third and Sixth. A Waverly company doing the project is also installing new asphalt on a small stretch of Third, downtown.
The paving work means the streets are closed, for Monday and Tuesday. Beatrice City officials say the hope is to have two intersections crossing the new pavement open on Wednesday.
Weather permitting, all of Ella and Third Streets will be reopened Thursday.
The construction is less than a block from the Beatrice Middle School and BPS Administration Building. Wednesday is a partial school day, with the first full-day of classes for the new Beatrice Public Schools year, on Thursday.
