David City Man Accused of Illegally Owning Rifle Faces Prison Time

DAVID CITY, Neb. – Butler County Sheriff deputies say they were able to locate an illegal rifle in the backseat of a David City man’s car.

33-year-old Brian Kadavy is charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a prohibited person and will head to court later this month on the charge.

According to the Butler County Sheriffs Office, deputies came to Kadavy’s home after allegations of child abuse or neglect. The records say after interviewing Kadavy’s children, they were told that Kadavy had a weapon in his car.

The documents say after Kadavy confirmed his child’s account, deputies found a Savage Mark II 17 caliber rifle lying on the backseat of his vehicle.

Kadavy has two felony drug convictions on his record and is barred from owning guns.

If convicted on his current charge, he faces three to 50 years in prison.
