NELIGH, NE — The Neligh man convicted of eight counts of sexual assault of a child and child abuse will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Court documents say Darryl Lierman was sentenced to 70-140 years in prison by Judge Mark Johnson in Antelope County District Court on Wednesday.  He must serve a minimum of 57 1/2 years before becoming eligible for parole.

A 12-member jury found Lierman guilty of three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child and three counts of child abuse in January.

Lierman was represented by attorney Doug Stratton while Madison County Attorney Joe Smith served as a special prosecutor for the State.
