COLUMBUS – Officials are still assessing the damage left by a storm that passed through the Platte Valley Wednesday evening.
Platte County Emergency Manager Tim Hofbauer says they are still working to assess the overall damage of the storm, with the heaviest portions leaving the area later Wednesday evening.
A storm front that hit western Nebraska, at the same time as the storm that left damage in eastern Nebraska, is expected to move across the state overnight, according to area forecasters. The storm is also expected to weaken as it pushes into the central and eastern portion of the state.
Roughly 3,420 customers had power knocked out in the Columbus and Richland areas, with major tree damage widespread through the area. One of the large trees to fall, blocked the entirety of 8th Street, near 16th Avenue.
