Conditions Ripe For Severe Weather, During First Half of Week

BEATRICE – Southeast Nebraska could be in for its’ first serious bout with severe spring weather, the next two days.

National Weather Service forecasters say that area is included in an enhanced risk for severe weather on Tuesday.

Jefferson/Saline County Emergency Management Coordinator John McKee says there is extreme fire danger starting out the week, and burning is not recommended.   Even recent burns could flare up with the dry conditions and high winds.

Southeast Nebraska was included in a wind advisory through seven p.m., as winds gust to near 50 miles per hour.

Severe storms, including tornadoes, are possible Tuesday and Wednesday, generally from mid-afternoon into evening.  Large hail and heavy rain are possible.
