BEATRICE – A collision between a small car and a semi-trailer truck about a mile north of Beatrice early Friday morning, sent one person to the hospital.
The collision, at the north entrance to the Diamond-T Truck stop, redirected northbound traffic on U.S. Highway 77.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue Paramedic Jeff Vanwinkle says the driver of the car suffered injuries in the wreck.

The injured driver was in a northbound Ford Focus, when it collided with a semi-trailer truck that was leaving the truck stop parking lot, onto the highway.

The truck driver was not injured. The collision blocked the northbound lanes. The car, with heavy front end damage, remained in the outside northbound lane. The truck’s trailer stretched across both northbound lanes and the cab of the truck, angled to turn south, was across the inside southbound lane of U.S. 77.
Gage County Sheriff’s officers were on the scene of the 6:45 a.m. accident, investigating. The identities of the drivers, both alone in their vehicles, was not immediately available.
Northbound traffic on the highway was diverted to a gravel frontage road off the east side of the highway. Traffic was then able to exit the north side of the truck stop parking lot and continue north on 77.
