City of Fairbury introduces budget billing program for light and water department

FAIRBURY, NE – The City of Fairbury’s Light and Water department is now offering budget billing for eligible residential utility customers.

Budget billing averages the high and low bill months to even out monthly budgets, and to give customers a better idea of what they have to pay per month.

“We’ve been asked about budget billing a lot by customers to make payments easier,” Fairbury city administrator Collin Biesler said. “We take the 12 month average for the past 12 months, average that out, and that’s what their bill would be moving forward through the end of 2019.”

To qualify for budget billing, Fairbury residents’ accounts need to be current and paid in full, and residents need a current 12-month history in existing residence.

Fairbury customers have until Nov. 30 to apply for budget billing from the city’s light and water department.

Residents can log onto, or stop by the city offices at 7th and D Streets.
