City of Beatrice Applying For Grant on Behalf of Exmark Manufacturing

BEATRICE – The City of Beatrice will apply for a grant to assist Exmark Manufacturing with an $8.5 million expansion project.

City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer says the city would fill the role in a requirement of the grant program, that a non-profit entity makes the application. It’s a state program called the Site and Building fund.

Tempelmeyer says If all goes well, the city would receive the grant funds, then distribute them to the company.

:11                  “be approved”

Tempelmeyer says compared to most grant programs, the process is simple.

:12                  “do, as well”

Exmark Financial Planning Manager Patty Kaufman says the company’s current facilities are landlocked by available space and that’s why the firm is looking at acquiring a nearby facility, previously operated by Blue Valley Automation.

Kaufman says no exact timetable has been set for an expansion.   Exmark is owned by the Toro Company based in Minneapolis.

:27                  “space constraints”

Meanwhile, Exmark will be starting to take applications soon for its’ “Big Rock” annual project.  Founded in 2007, the company selects a project from an area organization to preserve and beautify outdoor landscapes.   Over the past ten years, Exmark has donated funds and employee hours to help with ten projects within 30 miles of the Beatrice area.

Applicants for funds and support in the program must be a non-profit, a unit of government or a school, and be located within a 30-mile radius of Exmark.   Projects each year must be completed by October 31st.  Available funding is up to $25,000.

Application forms, which can be obtained from Exmark, must be submitted no later than March 31st.
