BEATRICE – Following a weekend of hot temperatures, parts of eastern and southeast Nebraska could see severe thunderstorms Monday, during the late afternoon and evening hours.
The National Weather Service reports thunderstorms capable of producing severe hail and strong wind gusts are possible late this afternoon and evening across parts of the lower central Plains and adjacent portions of the Missouri Valley. A slight risk of severe weather extends from northern Oklahoma, through eastern Kansas, into southeastern and eastern Nebraska. That area also includes northwest Missouri and western Iowa.
Over the weekend, highs were in the mid-90s in southeast Nebraska, with the temperature Sunday hitting 100, in Beatrice.
