Cemetery Vandal Arrested for Burglary in Norfolk

HOSKINS – A man currently on probation for vandalizing a cemetery in Hoskins now faces new felony charges in Norfolk.

Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer says 33-year old Michael Svatos was arrested early Wednesday, along with 20-year old Patrik Cole of Norfolk. Police were sent to the area of 2nd Street and Winter Avenue regarding a sound of breaking glass.

When officers arrived, they saw a shattered window and heard voices coming from inside the building. Bauer says Svatos and Cole exited the building, and that Svatos had burglar tools with him. An investigation revealed that both the building they were in and a second business on N. 3rd Street had both been burglarized.

Svatos and Cole were both placed under arrest.

Svatos is currently on probation after pleading no contest last year to vandalizing the Trinity Cemetery near Hoskins.
