BEATRICE –  A Beatrice man was injured when his car struck the rear of a sprayer last night on U.S. Highway 136, about two miles east of Filley.

34-year-old Daniel Buchanon was driving west on the highway attempting to pass a Case Patriot Sprayer driven by 38-year-old Eric Burgett, of Lewiston.  The sprayer began to turn south into a field drive, then returned to the westbound lane when Burgett saw the car trying to pass him.

Buchanon drove back into the west lane at about the same time, colliding with the sprayer.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue took one man to Beatrice Community Hospital with a head injury. A second man was taken by private vehicle to the hospital.

Gage County Sheriff’s authorities are investigating the accident.  Safety restraints were in use and airbags in the car…a 2006 Nissan Altima, deployed.

The collision happened at around seven p.m. on U.S. Highway 136, near the intersection with South 162nd Road.
