Beatrice–The two candidates running for a seat on the Gage County Board of Supervisors agree that the board will need to tighten the budget in the future as the county faces paying off the settlement of the Beatrice Six case. Eddie Dorn and Paul Weber are running for the District One seat on the Gage County Board of Supervisors and both participated in a candidate forum Tuesday night sponsored by the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dorn, a lifelong Gage County resident, says the Beatrice Six case will affect many future decisions by the board….

When asked about constructing a new jail for the county, both candidates were in favor of a new facility but both agreed they weren’t sure how to fund the project. Weber says he is in favor of a new jail, but isn’t sure how its possible at this time….

Dorn agreed that a new jail is needed but now is not the time to move forward on the construction of a new facility….

The District One seat on the Supervisors is the only contested race on the board in the upcoming general election.
