BEATRICE – Both Brown’s Shoe Fit and Deines Pharmacy in Beatrice received a special award on Wednesday.
The two local businesses were nominated for this year’s Nebraska Retail Champion. The purpose of the competition is to focus on contributions local retailers make to the community.
“We buy on our own, we advertise on our own. Everything is per the community that it’s in, which is kind of neat because if you go to another store, he might not touch work boots. Here, we’re more of a farm, railroad community like that,” said Owner of Brown’s Shoe Fit, Trevor Chadwick.
President of the Nebraska Retail Federation, Jim Otto, was there to present the nomination certificate to each business. Also in attendance were Christie Rice with the Chamber of Commerce, Glennis McClure with NGage and Michael Sothan with Main Street Beatrice.
A winner from each of the three congressional districts will receive an expense paid trip to Washington D.C. for the American Retail Champion competition from July 17-19.
