Bond set for suspect in Peru State stabbing

AUBURN, Neb. (AP) – A former Peru State College basketball player is accused of stabbing three other Peru State athletes during an off-campus altercation.

Nemaha County Court clerk magistrate Nancy Hall said 24-year-old Jeffland Neverson, of Brooklyn, New York, was expected to be formally charged Tuesday morning. Bond was set at $15,000.

State troopers are aiding the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office in investigating Saturday night’s stabbing. Investigators haven’t yet said what led to the altercation. Two football players and one basketball player were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neverson was a guard on Peru State’s team last year.
