The van involved in the accident was driven by 24-year-old Danielle Block, of Dewitt, who attended to the child prior to emergency personnel arriving.

The intersection where the accident occurred is marked on Garfield Street with stop signs for east-west traffic, but is not restricted with stop or yield signs for north-south travel on 13th.

Police briefly blocked the area around the accident scene for less than a half-hour.
