Beatrice Street Crews Ready for Latest Winter Round

BEATRICE – Beatrice Street Crews are planning for ice, in this weekend’s winter storm bearing down on the Midwest, even though precipitation could fall in a variety of forms in southeast Nebraska.

Beatrice Street Superintendent Jason Moore says crews will likely begin treating streets and highways on Saturday….just ahead of the precipitation arriving.

Moore says it’s much easier for street crews to deal with snowfall, than ice.

:11                  “really bad stuff”

Moore says crews are not planning to apply liquid de-icing material ahead of time, because with a potential rain-freezing rain-sleet-and-snow mix…..it may not be the most effective approach this time around.

A winter storm watch is in effect for much of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.   Northern Kansas and northern Missouri are included in an ice storm warning, late today through the weekend.
