BEATRICE – The 44th Annual Beatrice Sertoma Club Southeast Nebraska Sports Banquet was held on Sunday night at the Beatrice Holiday Inn Express.
The event recognizes a male and female senior student-athlete from high schools in Southeast Nebraska that have displayed outstanding athletic and academic achievements, as well as representing their communities and schools with tremendous ambassador and service skills during their high school careers.
Haley Sexton and Ben Garland represented Beatrice, while Tyson Landenberger and Hayley Denner were honored from Diller-Odell.
Freeman was represented by Abby Mason and Jacob Gramann, while Nick Goracke and Aleisha McDonald were the Sertoma Award winners from Johnson County Central, as were Lewiston’s Megan Wehrbein and Holden Christen.
Andrew Davis and Miranda Branek represented Pawnee City, while Southern High School seniors Sadie Shockley and Trevin Saathoff were honored, along with Ben Hier and Sheanna Stolz of Sterling.
Tri-County award winners were Shayna Lijewski and Cooper Smith, along with Korbyn Moldenhauer and Cooper Bates of Wilber-Clatonia.
Former Nebraska Defensive End, Demoine Adams, who was a three-year starter for the Cornhuskers from 1999 through 2002, was the guest motivational speaker for the annual event.
