Beatrice Police Stop Suspected Drunk Driver, With Child in Car

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police made an early morning arrest today of a suspected impaired driver, where a three-year-old child was a passenger in the car.

A patrolling officer observed a westbound car in the 12-hundred block of Scott Street, traveling 50 miles-per-hour in a 25-zone.  The car was observed to swerve into an oncoming traffic lane, then run a stop sign.

The officer conducted a traffic stop, and observed the female driver to be showing signs of intoxication.   Police say the woman became hostile, made unintelligible rants and began punching her vehicle.

Police arrested 28-year-old Brooke Leseberg, of Beatrice, on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest and child abuse.  A three-year-old child in the vehicle was taken into protective custody.

Police said the driver registered a preliminary breath test for alcohol, of point-2-2-3.
