Beatrice Police Make Sunday Drug, Assault Arrests

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested two people Sunday night for separate incidents……one drug arrest and one for a domestic assault.

Lieutenant Jay Murphy said police were sent to a North Seventh address on a call to remove a person.  When officers got there, the person had left the scene on a bicycle.  Police later located the person near Beatrice Police Headquarters.

While talking with the man, he became upset.  Police ordered the man to remove items from his pockets and they located a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue.   46-year-old James Bender, of Beatrice was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Sunday night at around ten o’clock, Police were called to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, where a woman had reported to a deputy that she had been assaulted.   The woman, who had a bloody lip, said she had been assaulted by a male at a home in the seven hundred block of Lincoln Street, just east of the Sheriff’s Office.

Lieutenant Murphy says officers later contacted and arrested 57-year-old Theotis Deyampert, for alleged third-degree domestic assault.  Police learned the suspect had eight prior domestic incidents from the Las Vegas area, including one pending case.
