Beatrice Police Make Drug Arrests Following Traffic Stop

BEATRICE – Local police arrested two Kansas residents early Saturday morning, on suspicion of drug violations.

Beatrice Police Sergeant Jay Murphy says a patrolling officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the thirty-one hundred block of North Highway 77, at around 12:20 a.m.

Suspected methamphetamine was found to be in possession of the male driver of the vehicle.  The officer also located meth and drug paraphernalia in the purse of a female passenger. 

During booking at the Gage County Jail, a baggie of suspected meth was recovered from the underwear of the male.

Police arrested 51-year-old Andrew Carter and 55-year-old Tammy Swearingen, both of Marysville, Kansas.  Carter was being held for possession of an illegal drug.  Swearingen was arrested for possession of an illegal drug and drug paraphernalia.
