Beatrice Police Investigating Abduction Attempt, Near Veteran’s Memorial Park

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a woman using the city’s trail system just north of Veteran’s Memorial Park, Sunday.

Lieutenant Mike Oliver says the Beatrice woman, who is in her 30s, was able to escape from the man, who accosted her near a shelter that is next to railroad tracks.

Oliver says the woman was running at the time a man grabbed her, while she was on the trail.

Oliver says police do not have a license plate number on the van, described as a newer, Chrysler.  The vehicle had been parked in the Veterans’ Memorial area.

Oliver says the woman escaped unhurt.

The incident happened at around 10:30 a.m.  Police attempted to line-up a sketch expert by contacting other police departments, the FBI and the state patrol, but was told there was no such expert, available.  Police have been trying to piece together a description from the victim to help come up with a sketch of the suspect.
