BEATRICE -Two motorists and a passenger were injured in a Sunday night collision west of the Gage County Courthouse, and police later arrested one of the drivers.
Beatrice Police report a car driven by 39-year-old Munaf Tharis-Hacham of Beatrice was southbound on Fifth and drove into the intersection, hitting the rear of a westbound pickup driven by 42-year-old Denise Lytle, of Beatrice.
The pickup driver told police the other driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the car left the scene.
Lytle and a 15-year-old passenger in her pickup had minor injuries.
Beatrice Police say a female witness came to the accident scene and told police she observed a silver-colored sedan traveling on the west side of Beatrice with extensive front end damage and was unsure how the vehicle could continue to operate.
Police later contacted the registered owner of the car, whose husband had been the driver. The driver, Tharis-Hacham, was bleeding from his nose and mouth and had bruises and swelling. He was arrested for driving on a revoked license and leaving the scene of an injury accident. The car was totaled, while the pickup had in excess of one thousand dollars damage.
The collision happened Sunday night, at around 9:40.
