Beatrice Man Suspected Of Flight To Avoid Arrest

TECUMSEH – A 19-year-old Beatrice man is scheduled for a court hearing Oct. 1 on charges involving a high-speed pursuit from Blue Springs in Gage County to Crab Orchard in Johnson County.

A state trooper initiated a traffic stop west of Wymore, but says Darrian Norman accelerated. He is suspected of traveling 71 in a 25 mph zone and ignoring stop signs.

The trooper says Norman ran stops signs in Pawnee City, sped through Lewiston and entered Crab Orchard at 45 mph.

An arrest affidavit says Norman, who was driving on a suspended license, went down a dead end road after leaving Crab Orchard.

He then attempted to drive over a cut hayfield. After entering  a ditch, the car’s airbags deployed and the car came to a stop.

He is scheduled for a first appearance in district court on a felony charge of flight to avoid arrest.
