Beatrice Man Arrested on Warrant for Alleged Sex Offender Violation

BEATRICE – Gage County Sheriff’s officers arrested a man less than a block from the sheriff’s office, for an alleged sex offender violation.

Friday afternoon, authorities were notified of a felony warrant issued for 32-year-old Jared Eppens, of Beatrice, for violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act.

An investigator and the special services sergeant at the Gage County Courthouse went to 710 Lincoln Street, hearing a male and female inside an apartment there.

The law officers contacted the woman, who said Eppens had just left the residence.  A short time later, the special services sergeant located Eppens standing in a closet behind some clothes, in a spare room of the apartment.

He was taken into custody on the warrant and is in the Gage County Jail.

Eppens is on a lifetime sex offender registration requirement following a 2012 Colorado Conviction in Pueblo County, for attempted sexual assault of a child.
