Beatrice City Council Considers List of Ordinances, Monday Night

BEATRICE – The Beatrice City Council will consider a series of ordinances when the body meets Monday night, at seven.

Mayor Stan Wirth says one proposal deals with potential restaurants in an area planned for redevelopment in the north part of the city.

The council will also consider an ordinance restricting swimming pools in front or side yards of residences.

Another ordinance deals with placement of fences in areas where there is little room available next to a street.

Recently, the council postponed action on a planned ordinance to deal with what are called disorderly houses…homes where frequent parties or other gatherings are causing a nuisance for others.  Wirth says that ordinance could gain final approval, Monday night.

Police Chief Bruce Lang previously said the ordinance is designed to address chronic violations.  Rental property owners expressed a desire to be notified early about such problems, so that they can address them with their tenants.
