Beatrice Board of Public Works Okays Electric Capacity Agreements

BEATRICE – The Beatrice Board of Public Works is recommending the city council approve two agreements that assign electric capacity to the city, as Beatrice switches wholesale electric supply from Nebraska Public Power District, to A-E-P Energy Partners, of Ohio.

One agreement involves capacity the city receives from the Western Area Power Administration through NPPD.

BPW Manager Tobias Tempelmeyer says the second agreement involves electric capacity provided through Western Area Power to the Beatrice State Developmental Center.

Tempelmeyer says the benefit to the city is the purchase of additional kilowatt-hours at a reduced cost.  Tempelmeyer says the agreements do not involved a significant amount of power…but helps bring down the cost.
