BEATRICE – The Big Blue Water Park in Beatrice will open for the summer season, on Saturday. Food supplies for the concession area were arriving Tuesday and the park is getting ready for the Memorial Day weekend crowd.
Manager Donna Arena says it’s exciting to start on time this year, with warm weather expected in the weekend forecast. A typical summer day draws about 300 people to the park.

A staff of 47 will be on hand at the Big Blue Water Park this year. Arena says a lot of youth trade time because of other activities such as baseball and softball schedules. Several trained lifeguards are ready to go.

This year’s water park rates will remain the same as last summer. Season passes range from $65 for ages four to seventeen, to $165 for a family season pass. Daily rates are $2 for a twilight swim, $5 for ages four to seventeen, $6 for adults and $3 for sixty years and older.
There’s no charge for children under four, at the Big Blue Water Park. The park is located at 12th and Scott Streets.
