Beatrice Authorities Arrest Assault Suspects, in Separate Incidents

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested suspects in separate assault incidents over the weekend.

Police were sent to the area of 8th and Market on a report of a man and woman fighting.  Officers arrested 21-year-old Jackie Gardner for allegedly assaulting a woman who was four-months pregnant.   The 19-year-old woman is from Raymond.  Gardner was arrested for 3rd-degree domestic assault and a criminal offense against a pregnant woman.

Police also answered a disturbance call late Saturday night, when they arrested 33-year-old Stephen Howard for 3rd degree domestic assault and disturbing the peace.  Two women reported being struck by Howard, whom authorities say had a preliminary blood alcohol reading of point-2-3-5. 

Wymore Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for driving on a suspended license, who’s been convicted on ten prior occasions for driving on suspension or driving while his license was revoked.

Derrick Hurley’s appearance bond was set at $5,000, following his arrest last Wednesday.  He was arrested by Wymore’s Police Chief after he recognized Hurley from past contacts, driving a vehicle.   Hurley’s car was stopped near 14th and M Streets. 

A Gage County Court hearing is set for August 1st.
