BEATRICE – The head of the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce has resigned her position with the local business organization.
Lora Young’s resignation as Executive Director for the chamber is effective, immediately.
Chamber Board of Directors President Karen Stohs said she could not comment on Young’s reasons for leaving. Stohs says the search is beginning for a new executive director, listed on the Department of Labor’s website…

Stohs says the three remaining staff members at the chamber, including the tourism director, remain on board.
Lora Young became Executive Director of the Beatrice Area Chamber about five years ago, coming to the area from Norfolk. Young was instrumental in helping organize one of the area’s highest attended events in history…the activities surrounding last summer’s full solar eclipse.

Stohs says a tentative closing date for receiving applications for the executive director position, has been set for the end of this month.

The Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce has been planning to hold election forums in the near future and is in the process of finalizing plans for this year’s Homestead Days Celebration, in June.
